Extreme Events in a Changing Climate

The Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society (CMOS) 58th Congress is being co-hosted by the Winnipeg Centre and the BC Interior-Yukon Centre.

The Congress will be held during June 3–6, 2024. It will be fully virtual, making it more cost-effective for attendees, allowing for a broader range of contributions, as well as being environmentally friendly.

The theme of the Congress is “Extreme Events in a Changing Climate” and sessions will cover the latest science and solutions on the climate emergency, high impact weather, critical ocean challenges, the global water crisis, among others related to Earth system science.

The Congress will feature virtual plenary presentations by experts in their field. Science sessions will highlight top Canadian and international research contributions across a breadth of interests, as well as highlight the translation of science into services and policies that benefit society.

The Congress will provide a high level of virtual interaction among presenters and attendees for both oral and poster presentations, including sessions and engagement opportunities catered toward students and early career professionals.
